A joint security operation involving the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes has successfully rescued two kidnapped reverend fathers in Gwaida Mallam Community, Numan Local Government Area (LGA), Adamawa State.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that victims, Reverend Fathers Abraham Samman and Matthew David Dusami, were abducted on February 21, 2025, by gunmen who later attempted to demand ransom.

However, security forces stormed the kidnappers’ hideout at about 5:00 p.m. on March 8, 2025, leading to the successful rescue of the clergymen without injury.

The sources revealed that the operation was planned after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

“After tracking the movements of the kidnappers, we identified their hideout in Gwaida Mallam Community and executed a carefully coordinated raid,” the source said.

During the raid, one of the suspected kidnappers, Tahamado Jonathan Demian, who is shockingly a member of the same Catholic Church in Numan as the victims, managed to escape.

However, his luck ran out when operatives of the Scorpion Squad apprehended him in Jimeta at about 8:30 p.m. the same day.

Following their rescue, the clergymen were taken to Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, for medical evaluation. Meanwhile, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit has launched a discreet investigation to uncover more details about the criminal network behind the abduction.

Authorities have assured residents of Adamawa State that efforts are ongoing to track down other accomplices and dismantle the kidnapping syndicate operating in the region.
