Several Bandits neutralized in ambush on security team in kwara, one vigilante killed

Bandits on Monday ambushed a combined security team in Kwara, killing a vigilante and injuring two others during an operation in Babasango and its environs.
Zagazola learnt that the operation, which involved Police Special Forces, operatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), and local vigilantes, was led by ACP Martin Luther with Buffalo Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) deployed for bush combing.
Security sources told Zagazola that at about 3:00 p.m., while the team was returning from the operation, the bandits laid an ambush, resulting in a fierce gun duel.
It said one vigilante was killed, while two others sustained gunshot wounds during the encounter.
Two of the Buffalo APCs were demobilised in the attack, while some of the bandits were reportedly neutralised.
The sources confirmed that the deceased’s body was taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for autopsy, while the injured were receiving treatment at the same hospital.
