Troops Arrest Four Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Recover Livestock in Borno

Troops of 25 Brigade, in collaboration with local hunters, have arrested four suspected cattle rustlers and recovered six cattle during an operation in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources said the suspects were apprehended at about 4:30 p.m. on May 16, 2026, at Kwaya Kusar Market while allegedly attempting to move the livestock.
According to the sources, the operation was conducted following actionable intelligence on suspected cattle rustling and collaboration with terrorist elements in the area.
The suspects are currently in military custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Security authorities said the recovered cattle have been secured pending identification and return to their rightful owners, while investigations are ongoing to determine possible links with wider criminal networks operating in the region.
