Troops Arrest Suspected Armed Robber, Recover Firearm and Stolen Items in Plateau

Troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), have arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally made revolver pistol, suspected stolen items and other exhibits during an operation in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the troops responded at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday to reports of the activities of a suspected armed robber at Yelwa Zangam village in Bassa LGA.
The sources said the suspect engaged the troops in a gun duel on sighting them and was shot in the leg during the exchange of fire before he was overpowered and arrested.
According to the sources, troops recovered one locally made revolver pistol, one motorcycle, one 9mm empty shell, two sachets of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, one mobile phone, one television set, one speaker, one DVD player and one decoder from the suspect.
The sources added that the suspect was receiving medical treatment at a hospital, while the recovered exhibits were secured for further investigation and necessary action.
