In continuation of efforts to rid the Sambisa Forest of terrorist elements, troops of Operation Hadin Kai on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, conducted a successful clearance operation around Garin Baaba, resulting in the neutralisation of several Boko Haram fighters.

According to military sources, the operation followed a coordinated aerial reconnaissance mission that identified enemy positions within the dense forest enclave. Ground forces were subsequently deployed, engaging the terrorists in a decisive encounter.

During the operation, troops recovered and destroyed a cache of arms and ammunition, including bomb containers suspected to be intended for Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), as well as pressure plates used in crafting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were immediately deployed and successfully detonated the recovered explosive materials on-site to prevent future threats.

The Defence Headquarters reiterated that clearance operations are ongoing in Sambisa and surrounding areas, with the objective of dismantling remaining terrorist hideouts and restoring security to affected communities.

Operation Hadin Kai continues to intensify counterterrorism efforts in the North East, with support from the Nigerian Air Force and other security partners.
