Troops of 6 Brigade Arrest Two Terrorists and Recover Motorcycles Following Intense Shootout in Taraba State
On July 11, 2024, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) successfully apprehended two notorious terrorists after a fierce shootout at Geshi Village along Rafin Kada road in Damisa Ward, Donga Local Government Area, Taraba State. The operation also led to the recovery of two motorcycles used by the criminals.
The troops, deployed in Akate, Donga Local Government Area, acted on intelligence reports indicating an imminent attack by armed terrorists in Geshi Village. Swiftly mobilizing to the area, the troops engaged the armed men in a fierce gun battle, ultimately overpowering the terrorists with superior firepower.
The criminals fled into the bush with gunshot wounds, but the troops pursued and arrested two terrorists, along with their motorcycles. The captured terrorists are currently in custody for interrogation.
The Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS commended the troops for their bravery, swift response, and dedication to duty. He stated, "This operation is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our troops to ensure the state is free of kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities." He affirmed that the Brigade would continue to intensify efforts to rid Taraba State of criminal elements.
The Commander also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, stating that the 6 Brigade remains steadfast in its mission to ensure the safety and security of all residents in Taraba State.
In another development, troops of Headquarters 6 Brigade, while on routine patrol within the Jalingo metropolis, found a nine-year-old pupil named Miss Dorothy Kwatsumen wandering in her school uniform in the Gongomaliki area of Yorro Local Government Area, Taraba State. Preliminary investigations to determine her school and locate her parents or guardians were initially unsuccessful. Consequently, she was taken to the Brigade headquarters for custody.
Eventually, Miss Kwatsumen was identified as a pupil of Glory Children Academy. Troops proceeded to the school and met the headteacher, who informed them that the school had been searching for the pupil for about 24 hours and had reported the case to the Jalingo Police Division. The pupil was later reunited with her parents.
