Security operatives have foiled a cattle rustling operation and recovered 25 stolen cows following an attack by armed bandits in Katsina State.

Police sources said the incident occurred at about 8:50 p.m. when a large number of armed bandits invaded Badawa village, shooting sporadically before rustling cattle from residents.

According to the sources, the Divisional Police Officer in Malumfashi swiftly mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier patrol team and other tactical units to the area after receiving a distress call.

The security operatives reportedly blocked the suspected escape routes of the attackers and engaged them in a gun duel.

The bandits were forced to abandon the rustled animals and flee into nearby bushes due to the superior response of the security team.

All 25 rustled cows were successfully recovered during the operation.

The Nigeria Police Force said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
