Zamfara: Nine Vigilantes Killed in Bandit Ambush After Successful Operation in Anka

Atleast 9 vigilantes otherwise known as Askarawa, lost their lives on Saturday in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State after being ambushed by bandits while returning from a successful joint operation with security forces.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the vigilantes had earlier engaged heavily armed bandits in a forest battle alongside security personnel, achieving a major victory.
However, on their way back, the vigilante group were ambushed by another group of bandits, leading to casualties among them.
The Community Protection Guards is the Zamfara State Security Outfit established by Governor Dauda Lawal, to complement the efforts of other security agencies in the state
Residents and community leaders have expressed deep sorrow over the incident, offering condolences to the families of the fallen vigilantes. They commended the bravery and sacrifice of the vigilantes in supporting the fight against insecurity in the state.
