Headless Body Found in Bush as Police Launch Murder Investigation in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has launched an investigation into the discovery of a headless body in a bush at Shanya Babba village, Maigatari Local Government Area of the state.
The incident was reported at about 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, after residents raised an alarm over the discovery of the body.
According to a police source, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Maigatari Division, immediately led a team of police personnel to the scene following the distress call.
The source said a search of the surrounding area was conducted, during which the severed head of the victim was recovered.
The victim had no means of identification on the body, while the remains had already started decomposing.
The body was subsequently evacuated from the scene and deposited at a hospital for further examination.
Police detectives are currently working to establish the identity of the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Efforts are also ongoing to trace and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the gruesome act.
The police said the case remains under investigation, with further developments expected as the investigation progresses.
