Police Arrest Two Suspected Cable Vandals Near NPF Microfinance Bank in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected cable vandals who were allegedly attempting to gain access to a fenced transformer installation belonging to the NPF Microfinance Bank in Obalende, Lagos.
The suspects, identified as Opeyemi Akinbulumo, 28, and Wasiu Onofowora, 45, were arrested at about 2:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026.
According to a police source, the suspects were intercepted within the vicinity of the NPF Microfinance Bank while allegedly attempting to gain entry into the fenced transformer installation.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of rubber hand gloves, a razor blade, spanners, a wooden stool and a cutlass.
Preliminary investigation reportedly indicated that the two suspects may have been among individuals who attempted to vandalise the same transformer installation about two weeks earlier.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while the recovered items have been registered as exhibits.
The Lagos State Police Command said investigation is ongoing to establish the suspects’ involvement in the alleged vandalism and identify other persons who may be connected to the activity.
