A joint security operation involving the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Police Force and the military has rescued eight abducted persons from the Millennium City and Marabar Rido axis of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The victims were reportedly rescued between October 31 and November 2, 2026, during coordinated operations supported by the Kaduna State Government.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu disclosed the development during a press conference at the DSS Command Headquarters in Kaduna, saying the operation formed part of sustained efforts to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks responsible for recurring abductions in Millennium City and surrounding communities.
The rescued victims were identified as Jamila Muhammad, 27, wife of Abdulkadir Bello; Talatu Yakubu, 40; Yunana Bawa, 30; Calista Bishop, 27; Chidinma Onuwere, 36; Eucharia Obi, 41; Godiya Victor, 50; and eight-year-old Miracle Alex.
The latest breakthrough comes weeks after security agencies rescued Ahmad Zakka and members of his family on October 15, 2026.
Rabiu attributed the successive successes to the determination and coordinated efforts of the participating agencies, acknowledging ONSA's strategic coordination, the Police's operational support, the DSS's intelligence-driven interventions and the military's involvement.
He also commended the Kaduna State Government, under Governor Uba Sani, for supporting the operations, describing the achievements as consistent with President Bola Tinubu's commitment to strengthening national security.
The commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible, actionable intelligence on suspected kidnappers and bandits, assuring them that such information would be treated confidentially.
He also called on traditional rulers and community leaders to support ongoing security efforts, while appealing to media organisations to avoid circulating unverified information capable of compromising operations or creating unnecessary panic.
The rescue operation underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing kidnapping and other security challenges in Kaduna State.
However, security agencies are expected to sustain pressure on the criminal networks operating in the corridor, particularly by identifying and dismantling their informant networks, hideouts and logistical supply chains.
For communities affected by repeated abductions, the rescue of the victims represents a welcome development. The ultimate objective, however, remains restoring lasting security and ensuring residents can go about their daily activities without the constant fear of kidnapping.
