Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Whirl Stroke have neutralised two suspected bandits during a follow-up operation at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Edimogbo Forest, Igala-Mela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Security sources said the operation was conducted at about 9:30 a.m. on November 2, 2026, by troops of the Quick Response Force (QRF), 21 Battalion, Sector 3, following earlier operations in the area.
The sources said the troops further exploited the suspected kidnappers’ hideout during the operation, made contact with the armed suspects and engaged them, resulting in the neutralisation of two suspected bandits.
During the operation, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, 438 rounds of 7.62mm x 54mm ball ammunition, 4,725 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two bandoliers, two mobile phones and one power bank.
The sources said troops had continued exploiting the area following the engagement, while further operations were ongoing.
The operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation Whirl Stroke to dismantle criminal hideouts and disrupt kidnapping activities in Kogi State and adjoining areas.
