Ogun Police Investigate Death of 11-Year-Old Pupil After Alleged School Punishment

The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of an 11-year-old pupil, Ezikwu Chibuike, of Phase 2 Ajayi Estate, Ibafo.
According to sources, the incident was reported on 19 June 2026 at about 1015hrs by the father of the deceased, Iheanyichukwu Nnadi, who stated that his son returned from school on 18 June 2026 at about 1600hrs in distress, complaining of headache after allegedly being flogged on the head by his French teacher.
The father further explained that the boy, a pupil of Assurance School, Olujemilusi Street, Ibafo, was given paracetamol at home but developed worsening symptoms during the night, including fever and vomiting. He was subsequently rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
Upon receipt of the report, detectives visited the hospital where the corpse was examined and photographed. The Command stated that no visible marks of violence were observed on the body.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Real Define Morgue, Ibafo.
The police said the father requested immediate burial without an autopsy, but added that investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing.
