One Killed, Three Injured as Suspected Cattle Rustlers Attack Plateau Community

Suspected cattle rustlers have killed one person, injured three others and rustled an undisclosed number of cattle during an attack on Jwak Deshwar Village in Panyam District of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that troops of Sector 8 under Operation Enduring Peace, alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) and local vigilantes, responded at about 3:55 a.m. on Aug. 7 following reports of sporadic gunfire in the community.
On arrival, the security team discovered that the attackers had already fled after killing one resident, injuring three others and making away with an undisclosed number of cattle.
The injured victims were evacuated to the COCIN Medical Centre in Panyam for treatment, while the body of the deceased was recovered by family members for burial in accordance with local customs.
Security sources said troops and vigilante operatives have launched a joint search operation to track down the fleeing rustlers and recover the stolen livestock.
The sources added that security has been reinforced in the area to prevent further attacks, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the assault.
