He also thanked the outgoing Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Gold Chibiusi, for the strategic guidance, while also appreciating the Borno Government and humanitarian organisations for their support and services.

He said: “During my tenure, we witnessed first hand unwavering commitment, sacrifice and professionalism that exemplify the highest standards of military echos of officers and men of this division and Sector 1.

“When I assumed command as the 13 GOC, I knew the responsibility entrusted to me was enormous, however, together we faced the challenges, overcame obstacles and celebrated the victories.

“We achieved notable milestones, especially the decisive phase of Operation Desert Sanity III and Lake Sanity II, among other operations.

“These key operations witnessed tremendous successes as key terrorists were neutralised, their equipment, life support as well as recovered various categories of arms and ammunition.”
